Your first visit is designed to help you understand your diagnosis, treatment options, and next steps with confidence. At Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery of Fairfield County, our goal is to make oral surgery feel clear, organized, and as comfortable as possible from the moment you arrive.
Dr. Imanuel Babayev, our oral surgeon in Norwalk, Connecticut, will review your concerns, evaluate the information provided by your dentist or referring provider, and explain what to expect before treatment begins.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
Please arrive a few minutes early so we can complete registration if it has not already been finished.
Please bring the following items with you:
- Your dental insurance card
- A written referral, if your dentist provided one
- X-rays or imaging from your dentist, if available
- A list of your current medications
- Any questions you would like to discuss with Dr. Imanuel Babayev
What Happens During Your First Visit?
During your first visit, Dr. Imanuel Babayev will perform a comprehensive examination and assessment. This may include a review of your dental history, medical history, referral information, symptoms, medications, and any imaging provided by your dentist.
If additional imaging is needed, our team may take X-rays or use advanced imaging to better understand your oral health and plan treatment. These images help Dr. Imanuel Babayev evaluate your needs and recommend care that is appropriate for your situation.

Clear Answers Before Treatment Begins
Patient education is an important part of our approach. Dr. Imanuel Babayev will explain the nature of the recommended treatment, why it may be needed, what the expected outcome is, and what you can expect before, during, and after care.
There will also be time for you to ask questions. We want you to feel informed before moving forward with oral surgery.
Services We May Discuss
Depending on your needs, your first visit may include a discussion about services such as tooth extractions, wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, immediate implant placement, bone grafting, sinus lifts, oral pathology exams, TMJ treatment, or IV sedation.
Discussing Sedation and Comfort
Many patients feel nervous about oral surgery. If you have anxiety, difficulty sitting through dental treatment, a strong gag reflex, or a more involved surgical procedure, please let us know.
Dr. Imanuel Babayev can discuss whether sedation may be appropriate for your care. Our team is happy to answer questions about comfort, preparation, safety, and what to expect on the day of treatment.
Medical Conditions and Medications
Please let us know before your appointment if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or special health considerations. This may include diabetes, high blood pressure, heart conditions, artificial joints, heart valves, rheumatic fever, or any condition that may affect oral surgery planning.
Please also tell us if you currently take blood thinners, antibiotics, osteoporosis medications, or require probiotics or medication management for an existing condition.
Patients Under 18
Parents or legal guardians must accompany patients under the age of 18.
